Hi. My name is Christopher Stafford Hataway. You can call me any part of that you like. Most folks use the first half of the first name (splitting before the "t" of course) which is fine by me. I am Artboy. I was born the 28th of December, 1965, with a number two pencil in my hand. I've been migrating west all my life. Born in Wisconsin (I guess technically I'm a cheese-head) Moved at two. Spent ten boy years in Colorado, growing. Then ten years in Nevada, growing and developing. Currently I am aging in California. I am largely a self taught artist (is there any other kind?). I was that kid you knew who kept real quiet and huddled over his sketch-book doodling all day. I became pretty handy with a pencil, then moved on to pen, and eventually to various paint mediums. I was institutionalized at the San Francisco Art Institute in the late 80's, where I learned print-making. I received my BFA (the "F" stands for "fine") in the early 90's. My development as a painter has come since then.

Artist statement: I make art to burn off the creative energy generated by the over-active imagination engine in my head. It's the only way to prevent explosions.
